The music launch of the directorial debut film of Naseeruddin Shah – Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota– What If? Produced by Shabbir Boxwala under the banner of Cat Films and presented by Anil Samani was held on Saturday 17th June at Planet M with great fanfare. Mrs. Khadija Boxwala (wife of producer Shabbir Boxwala) released the music at the glittering venue along with Director Naseeruddin Shah, Producer Shabbir Boxwala ,Music director Viju Shah , lyricist Sameer and the cast Konkana Sen Sharma, Ayesha Takia, Ratna Pathak Shah, Ravi Baswani, Ankur Khanna Karran Khanna and Shahana Goswami
Yuh Hota Toh Kya Hota– What If ? boasts of scintillating music by Viju Shah, whose catchy music in Tridev is remembered even till today. The veteran and popular lyricist Sameer has written the songs for the film, which has a unique story that sketches the entwining lives of four people with distinct hopes and diverse motives. Starring Paresh Rawal, Irrfan Khan, Jimmy Sheirgill, Karran Khanna, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ayesha Takia, Ratna Pathak Shah, Saroj Khan, Ankur Khanna, Imaad Shah, Ravi Baswani, Tinnu Annand, Sameer Sheikh, Shahana Goswami & Suhasini Mulay , the film sensitively depicts how fate can impact a person’s life and affect several generations to come.
Music of Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota plays a gigantic role in narrating the engaging story. The
songs connect the lives of the four protagonists traveling on the edgy tracks of life and give voice to their emotions. The title track of the album, Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota sums up the essence of the film and gives voice to the tangible and the intangible feelings of the protagonists. Rendered soulfully by Kunal Ganjawala and Sunidhi Chauhan, this song is ornate with delicate melody and lilting rhythm.
Ek Baar Jaana America is a catchy song with two variations that chalks out America as the dream destination of people. The song rides high on the sentiments of the protagonists who are on their way to America for their own imperative reasons, different from each other. The catchy and peppy tune not only lingers in the mind of the listeners but also defines the Indian craving for the alien land of America.
The track Dance Music is an aptly titled instrumental featuring veteran musicians Tushar Parte (Acoustic Guitar) and Shyam Raj (Tenor Saxophone). The album also carries five bonus tracks, including Pyar Hai rendered sensuously by Sowmya Rao, Tu sung with vigor by Kunal Ganjawala, Odhni Odhae, a cult Gujarati classic remixed with attitude by DJ Suketu, Man Ke Darpan Mein by Om the fusion band and Yadon Mein rendered by Shreya Ghoshal & Shaan.
The music album of Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota is a musical treat packed with emotions and dreams and has a huge promotional plan backing it. MTV’s ‘BIG PICTURE’, an interview based show will feature Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah & Ayesha Takia. Paresh Rawal will host ‘MTV SELECT’, a programme featuring latest hits that will include the songs Ek Baar Jaana America & Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota. MTV along with Times Music & Air India will run a ‘Chalo America’ contest where a lucky winner will win two return tickets to America!
