Jackie Shroff to sing for English film

MUMBAI: For the first time, actor Jackie Shroff will lend his voice for a number in an English film titled Let’s Romance.

The film will be directed by ad film director turned filmmaker Abhik Banu who has also written the lyrics and the film’s script.

Banu has directed 175 commercials and has also made a film titled Sab Kuch Hai Kuch Bhi Nahin, which released in 2005. The film starred Sachit Patil, Kirti, Pooja, A K Hangal, Vikram Gokhale, Pramod Moutho, Shehzaad Khan, Anant Jog and Govind Namdeo. The film was screened at American, French and German film festivals, but was a dismal failure at the box-office.

Let’s Romance is an English film with Indian actors. It carries Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophies too. It is a joint venture and can be termed as the first Indian English comedy, which is being produced by Mumbai businessman Kanwaljeet Singh under the banner of Matchbox Entertainment, in association with an NRI Chandra Pandula under his banner C-2.”

The film will star Jackie Shroff, Govind Namdeo and Alok Nath. The director is also looking for 10 new teenage actors who will be part of the cast. The shooting will commence towards the end of April at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad; which is the media partner for the venture.

Adds Banu, “Jackie Shroff will be playing an unique role. He plays a poet and a painter who does not believe in love, until he falls in love with a girl in her mid-twenties. The song he has lent his voice for, goes thus… ‘Come on show me the way… I am lost again…’ Amit Swamy has composed the song. We will have six numbers for the CD version, which will be released with a pictorial book compiled with 60 poems in English.”
