MUMBAI: Sometimes described as wooden, sometimes described as an actor who has stuck gold because of his looks… descriptions that speak of the superfluous rather than the actor’s histrionics skills. But John Abraham has proved all his critics wrong. After back to back hits with Dostana and New York, he cannot be dismissed as a non actor.
Abraham says, "It does not make a difference when critics say I can’t act as long as my films are being appreciated by the audience. Why would the audience pay money to see an actor ham his lines or see a bad film? I would not. So as long as my films are doing well, I am satisfied."
But Abraham is not taking things at face value. For each film that he signs, he is taking time out to prepare for his role. For Abbas Tyrewala’s 1-800-LOVE, Abraham took time out to attend a work shop before the shoot commenced. Abraham adds, "I took time out for the work shop, which is as essential as doing the scenes while the camera is rolling. This helps in getting ready for the character and you are already in character when you start shooting for the film."
Currently shooting for the film is underway at London. And though the cast of Abraham and newcomer Palki had taken a workshop in Mumbai, they also continued with it once they reached London. Shooting for the film will wrap up in London by mid September.
