Mumbai: Shyam Benegal takes to comedy movies with his forthcoimng film Mahadev Ka Sajjanpur… Based in a township called Sajjanpur, everyone in the unit was always seen as getting transported to the world of Sajjanpur.
The film was titled, Mahadev Ka Sajjanpur in view of the fact that the entire film revolves around the protagonist named Mahadev, played by Shreyas Talphade who is the only educated person in the village and writes letters for all the illiterate villagers.
The sets of Ramoji studios was converted in to a small village called Sajjanpur, every day when the cast used to report on the sets, they used to greet each other by saying, Welcome To Sajjanpur… since every one loved to say this daily, Talphade suggested to Shyam Benegal to consider renaming the film from Mahadev Ka Sajjanpur to Welcome To Sajjanpur. Shyam Benegal who was himself fond of greeting every one in the same way loved Talphade’s suggestion and actually changed the name of the film from Mahadev Ka Sajjanpur to Welcome To Sajjanpur.
