Manisha Koirala to revive production house

MUMBAI: Actress Manisha Koirala and her brother Siddharth Koirala, who officially produced their first venture Paisa Vasool in 2004 are back into the production business. After a gap of two years, the brother – sister duo is planning to revive their banner – Moving Images.

Manisha Koirala is already in talks with some directors and artistes and marketing professionals.

Koirala’s first first venture had Sushmita Sen, Sushant Singh and Makrand Deshpande along with her in the cast. However, the film didn’t do well at the box office. According to information available to Businessofcinema.com, the film was made on a budget of Rs 40 million (Rs 4 crores) and suffered losses to the tune of Rs 25 million (Rs 2.5 crores).

Siddhartha says, “Paisa Vasool was made on budget of more than Rs 40 million and we suffered a big loss, which I don’t want to disclose. The reason for the film’s ill fate was not because we had made a bad film but the hitch lay in distribution and marketing.”

“Since we are actors, we were new to this field and when it comes to distributions and marketing it is a different ball game altogether. We made lots of mistakes in Paisa Vasool and we don’t want to repeat it in our next. So first we are going to select an experienced team, which is good in distribution and of course marketing. Once the team is in place, we will start our next production,” he adds.
