MUMBAI: Anuj Saxena’s Maverick Productions is all set to step into the Kannada market. The production house will launch two shows on Zee Kannada by the end of this month. The first one will be Zee’s reality show Sa Re Ga Ma, which first aired on its flagship channel Zee TV and the second is a show called Biography.
Maverick Productions creative head Debjani Mitra informs, “Sa Re Ga Ma will hit the small screen on 24 August. The format remains the same but the first 26 episodes will target the housewives of Karnataka. We don’t want to have the same kiddies special like the original one because there are other talent hunt shows on the channel.â€
Vijay Prakash, who sung the title track of the Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu starrer Cheeni Kum, will host the show, which will be aired at 9 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
The other show Biography will be a weekly docudrama. “Right from writers to celebrities, we will showcase the biographies of every famed personality,†adds Mitra.
Maverick is planning more shows on Zee Kannada as well as other channels in Karnataka. Mitra says, “The market is huge and we stand many opportunities. Soon we will be launching new shows on other channels as well.â€
