Mehul Kumar launches Krantiveer’s sequel

MUMBAI: White City Entertainment and Mehul Kumar launched the sequel of the 1994 film Krantiveer starring Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia. The sequel is called Krantiveer – The Revolution.

With this film, White City Entertainment marks its entry in Hindi cinema with Kumar. Plans are to produce at least three Hindi films every year, which would range from medium to mega budget films.

Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia gave the mahurat clap at the event, while Amitabh Bachchan lit the lamp along with Govt. of Maharashtra deputy chief secretary, revenue and forest J.P Dange and secretary culture and tourism Jayant Gaikwad.

Krantiveer – The Revolution stars Jahan Bloch, Sameer Aftab, Kelly Dorji, Ranjit, Farida Jalal, Govind Namdeo, Mukesh Rishi, Aman Verma, Ashok Samarth, Aditya Singh Rajput and Harsh Rajput.

Also present at the event were Tabu, Paresh Rawal and Jeetendra apart from other celebrities from Bollywood.

Bloch, who earlier played Nana Patekar’s daughter in the original Krantiveer, makes her debut with Krantiveer – The Revolution taking the story forward. She plays a journalist who is set to lead the revolution against terrorism, violence and corruption. Joining her in this battle is Sameer Aftab, who plays the lead opposite her.

Speaking about the launch Kumar said, "It’s really the most memorable moment in my life, since out of the entire movie which I have directed Krantiveer has always been close to my heart. And the joyous feeling of directing the sequel of the movie is something which is very hard for me to express in words. My daughter Jahan who is making a debut with this movie is the icing on the cake. What more can I ask, from God?"

The earlier Krantiveer was directed by Mehul Kumar and released on 22 July, 1994. The film starred Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Atul Agnihotri, Mamta Kulkarni, Danny Denzongpa and Paresh Rawal. The film won three Star Screen Awards, four Filmfare Awards and one National Film Award.
