Mumbai :Metro Cinema, an original MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayor) theatre which opened on June 3, 1938, has undergone a complete renovation. The new look Metro Adlabs that will be run by Adlabs, has opened to the public from today (August 11) to coincide with the release of Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
The architects have retained the chandeliers, columns, railings and glass paneling as also some of the art deco elements like the coves in the ceiling and the shades of red. Projection rooms, AHU and restrooms have been made completely modern and functional. The six screen multiplex has a seating capacity for 1491 people, has been upgraded with Dolby EX, MDI Make screens, provision for wheelchairs to be put in front rows and elevator access to the first floor.
It has a stand alone Pipe Music system, food, top-quality coffee and mocktails will be served in exclusive glassware, handcrafted cutlery and bone-china crockery and chosen from an exclusive menu printed on specially designed menu cards. Personalised silver service will be provided to patrons visiting Ebony Lounge.
