Moser Baer acquires BR Films’ library

MUMBAI: After acquiring the rights of BR Films’ forthcoming film Bhootnath, Moser Baer has taken a step ahead by taking hold of the entire library of B R Films for home video and satellite rights.


Confirming the same with Businessofcinema.com, Moser Baer Entertainment CEO Harish Dayani says, “We acquired B R Films’ library because it consists of an array of cult films. There are a total of 30 films including Baghbaan. which will be launched in the market after approximately a year.”


Elaborating further he says, “The rights are currently with various other companies and will expire by sometime next year.”


This kitty includes Chopra’s debut film as a producer – Afsana, recently re-released Naya Daur, The Burning Train, his last film as a director Kal Ki Awaz amongst others.


While television series Mahabharat has also been included in this deal and will be re-released on home video, the second part – Mahabharat Katha will be released on home video for the first time.
