Mumbai: Beginning this August, NDTV Lumière and Zenzi come together to give cinema lovers in Mumbai a weekend session of the best in world cinema followed by stimulating discussions. This original initiative, called Zenzi Lumière is presented by NDTV Lumière, credited with furthering the world cinema movement in India and Zenzi, the classic yet contemporary multi-cultural lounge bar.
Kicking off on 24 August, Zenzi Lumière will provide movie lovers with an opportunity to watch contemporary innovative world cinema. It will also present critics and film aficionados from different backgrounds a platform to share their views, opinions, and thoughts. The Zenzi Lumière screenings will take place twice a month on every alternate Sunday at 1:30 pm.
Announcing the initiative with Zenzi New Ventures, NDTV Imagine senior vice president Dhruvank Vaidya said, "It is our endeavour to make world cinema available across all platforms whether it be theatrical releases, DVDs, online streaming or online downloads."
Zenzi owner Matan Schabracq added, "By showcasing World Cinema, Zenzi is trying to show that a restaurant is more than just a place to eat and drink. Zenzi is a place where likeminded people come to find inspiration and interaction. The unique films that we will showcase are a source of inspiration for the creative people of Bombay that frequent Zenzi. "
Zenzi Lumière will commemorate its launch with the screening of the romantic road movie, In July, directed by winner of the Audience Award at the 2001 Tromsø International Film Festival, Fatih Akin. In the movie, the mysterious and enigmatic July tells shy young college professor Daniel that he will meet the woman of his dreams if he buys a Mayan ring from her. Her prediction comes true, and Daniel is drawn into a tumultuous romantic quest that begins in Germany, traverses all of Europe, and ends in the arms of his true love.
The Zenzi Lumière club is open to all. Your ticket to catch up on the best of internationally acclaimed movies by NDTV Lumière will be on a first come, first serve basis.
