MUMBAI: Neetu Chandra has a lot to look forward in the next few days. A first time nomination in the best actress category is always memorable for an actress and so is it in the case of Chandra.
For the actress who made her mark in tinsel town with Priyadrashan’s Garam Masala, Chandra has worked with a lot of known directors like National Award director Madhur Bhandarkar and Dibakar Bannerji of Khosla Ka Ghosla fame.
Oye Lucky Lucky Oye which was her last release has won her a nomination in the best actress category in the Stardust Awards. An obviously elated Neetu declared, "It is a big occasion for me. It is recognition for work done over the last three years. It is so tough to make it in Bollywood and I have had to work really hard to achieve my success. Each film is done with a lot of promise. And one Friday decides the fate of the film. I have chosen my films carefully and with the intention of making it to the top. And here I am with my first nomination. I am so super excited."
Chandra has a good lineup of films releasing this year. But more impressive has been the film makers and banners that she has up her sleeve. She has already completed shooting for films with film makers like Rahul Dholakia, Vipul Shah, Raj Kanwar, including a Tamil and Telegu film.
Elaborating on her South films, she said, "The Telegu film is a remake of Khakee and it is called Satya Meva Jayate. The film has been directed by Raj Shekhar, who is also acting in the film. My Tamil film is a bilingual and I share the honours with Madhavan. The hindi version, 13B, will release on the 6th of March."
With success comes successful film makers and good roles. That’s what Chandra wants in 2009 to consolidate her foothold in tinsel town.
