MUMBAI: Producer-directors Rory Kennedy and Liz Garbus will give the MIPDOC closing keynote address on Social Change through Documentary on 29 March 2009.
Together, they will share their visions and experiences of making socially-responsible documentary films. The format will be a moderated conversation with Sundance Channel senior vice president original programming Lynne Kirby.
MIPDOC takes place in Cannes on 28 and 29 March 2009 at the InterContinental Carlton Hotel.
Garbus and Kennedy co-founded Moxie Firecracker Films in 1998. Since then they have pursued their filmmaking vision, producing documentaries that illuminate larger social issues by telling the stories of everyday people.
For its 12th edition, MIPDOC will offer a two-day programme of events, conferences and innovation. In addition to a summit on financing and sessions dedicated to virtual worlds and to co-productions, MIPDOC 2009 is also launching a MIPDOC Accelerator, a series of high-impact one-on-one meetings for matchmaking amongst industry professionals.
