Mumbai: James Bond’s latest flick Quantum of Solace, starring Daniel Craig, will hit screens on 7 November in India. The film will release with 600 prints in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
Sony Pictures Entertainment India is targeting a box office gross of Rs 480 – 500 million (Rs 48 – 50 crores) for the movie’s lifetime run at the box office in India. Bond’s previous flick Casino Royale had done a business of Rs 447 million (Rs 44.7 crores) with 428 prints in India.
"We are hopeful that Quantum of Solace will gross between Rs 48 – 50 crores in India. In the weekend itself, we are expecting the film to gross Rs 8 – 10 crores," says Sony Pictures Entertainment India managing director Kercy Daruwala.
Daruwala informs that Quantum of Solace marketing spends range from Rs 150 – 200 million (Rs 15 – 20 crores). Sony Electronics alone is spending approximately Rs 80 million (Rs 8 crores) on its ‘Bond with Sony This Diwali’ campaign, which started post Navratri. Apart from this, Sony Ericsson, Smirnoff, Omega and Avon Perfumes have been roped in for various marketing activities.
Quantum of Solace released in UK on 31 October. However, the UK box office collections remained unavailable at the time of filing this story.
