Phalke Academy backs anti-piracy film

MUMBAI: The Dadasaheb Phalke Academy has offered its support to producer Kumar Raj’s feature film based on the theme of film piracy.

The film, Manthan Ek Kashmakash, made a while ago, had been languishing for want of takers. After it received accolades at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa recently, the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy and many film personalities have decided to give it a much-needed push.

“I had made this small budget film a long time ago but I had no buyers for it. It’s after the film was mentioned at the IFFI and invited officially for the next Cannes film festival, that I have got support for it. After that, I have commenced filming film personalities who genuinely and willingly commented on film piracy. We plan to distribute CDs of these on 16 February, which happens to be Phalke Punya Tithi day and has also been declared Anti Piracy Movement Day,” says Kumar Raj.

“We have secured soundbytes from Mahesh Bhatt, Manoj Bajpai, Bhupen Hazarika, Karan Razdaan, Poonam Dhillon, music director Shravan, lyricist Sameer, director Anurag Bose, Gulshan Grover, music director Pritam, Baba Sehgal, Ganesh Acharya and others. California based Dolby Laboraties Licensing Corporation will be coming to India to work on the mixing of my film,” adds Kumar.
