Preity Zinta gets down to business

MUMBAI: The actor’s hat is going to take a back seat for some time now for actress Preity Zinta as she gears up for the second season of IPL. Even though there is a lot of confusion on the playing dates for the tournament, Preity is very clear what her focus is for the moment. But she is quick to add a few lines on her upcoming release.

Her film Videsh with Mira Nair is set to release on 27 March. “The film is a must watch for all women. Actually, it is a must watch for all. I have grown more matured whilst shooting for this film. Mira is one of the few directors who knows how to extract the maximum from an actor and I personally believe, this is one of my best performances,” Zinta said.

But it is the Kings XI Punjab that is primarily on her mind. Added the chirpy actress, “My role is not just that of an owner, I also head the marketing and communications division. Getting sponsors in such weak financial times is a tall task. But I love what I am doing.”

Preity is so involved with the team that she can rattle off all the names of her players. She was concerned when the Sri Lankan players were involved in the terrorist attack. Two of her players Mahela Jayawardene and Kumara Sangakarra were part of that squad. Preity confessed, “I am very attached to them. I am very emotional too about them. And that’s why for any team meetings I am never a part of it as I want all my boys to play. Very businesslike, they ask me to leave the room when such decisions are being made.”

The cricket fraternity is now a part of Preity’s extended family. The dimpled girl from Dil Se is now, not just an actress but a fully fledged businesswoman.
