MUMBAI: PVR has acquired the all India theatrical distribution rights of Kamal Sadanah’s Victoria No. 203. The film, which stars Jimmy Shergill, Soniya Mehra, Om Puri and Anupam Kher, is slated for release on 31 August.

PVR Films Cell CEO Ashish Saxena says, “We decided to acquire the film as we found the promos interesting. Additionally, the film is releasing on 31 August and there are no big releases in the subsequent week.”

Plans are to release close to 80-100 prints of the film all across India. As per information available with Businessofcinema.com, the film was budgeted at Rs 25 million (Rs 2.5 crores) before it went on floors.

In the new version, Jimmy Shergill essays the role played by Navin Nischol in the original, while Soniya Mehra plays Saira Banu’s character. Om Puri is cast in Pran’s role and Anupam Kher plays Ashok Kumar’s character. The film is directed by Ananth Mahadevan and music has been scored by Viju Shah, son of Kalyanji (of Kalyanji – Anandji musical duo).
