Rajnikanth phenomenon grips Times Now

MUMBAI: All through this week, English news channel Times Now will celebrate the Rajnikanth phenomenon, as the superstar’s fans across the world prepare for the release of his 100th Tamil film, Sivaji: The Boss.

The release of this movie is one of the biggest events in the South this year, especially Tamil Nadu, and Times Now has decided to devote one full week of special programming, news reports, interactive contests, on-air opportunities for Rajni fans and special live coverage of events marking Sivaji’s release.

“Its not just about a film release, the release of Sivaji is a celebration of the popular cult around Rajni, and the phenomenon of Rajni which is often unfortunately overlooked beyond the South. With reports from Chennai, across Tamil Nadu, Singapore, Southeast Asia (where Rajni has a massive following) and from TIMES NOW bureaus across India, the special coverage will culminate in a half hour weekend telecast titled, simply, Rajni – Eternal. Superstar,” says Times Now editor in chief Arnab Goswami.

The channel has also rolled out a contest called ‘I want to be Rajni’. Viewers and Rajni fans will get an opportunity to come the closest they can, on TV, to performing typical Rajni stunts, moves, dialogues and action.

Five winners will get an opportunity to watch the movie on Saturday at Satyam Theatre in Chennai.
