MUMBAI: After the monumental failure of Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Department’ at the box-office, the film-maker lashed out at actor Sanjay Dutt for his apparent interference.
He tweeted: "Whatever else is happening to Department, I am supremely happy that I don’t need to see the faces of Sanjay Dutt and Dharam Oberoi for the rest of my life. If Dutt and Oberoi think I am bad in Department, let’s wait for Zilla Ghaziabad and Soham’s film where I am not there to spoil their creative inputs."
Common friend, choreographer and filmmaker Ahmed Khan decided to play peacemaker and patch up the two. "Ramu is my mentor. He gave me a break in Rangeela when I was 19-years-old. I was a nobody back then. He thought that I could do justice to AR Rahman’s music, Aamir Khan’s acting and Jackie Shroff’s style. I will always remember that. On the other hand, Sanju is my big brother. We all know that he has a heart of gold. We all love him. Whatever was happening was not right. I wanted to change it. I have been speaking to them constantly. Another common friend, Rafi Kazi has been trying to patch them up. I am so glad that Sanju and Ramu respected my words and decided to patch up. I am very happy. I hope and pray that they make a blockbuster together soon."
Reportedly, Dutt and Varma spoke for a while and sorted out their differences, that they believed were created by Dutt’s manager Oberoi. As a result, Oberoi has been ousted as CEO of Dutt’s production house.
