Mumbai: Sahara One Motion Pictures’ first Hollywood co-production and multi-starrer English film, Tree of Life, starring Hollywood heartthrob Colin Farrel, is slated for a 2008 release.
Colin Farrel has earlier starred in Hart’s War, Phone Booth and Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report, among others. The film will be directed by award-winning director Terrence Mallik, who has written and directed films like Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line and The New World.
Shantonu Aditya, CEO of Sahara One says, “Our association with Tree of Life marks the entry of Sahara One Motion Pictures into mainstream Hollywood. We are delighted and look forward to the collaboration. Thirty per cent of the shooting will be in India, while the balance seventy per cent will be shot in U.S.A.â€ÂÂ
Tree of Life will be produced by Donald Rosenfeld, who was earlier involved with Merchant Ivory Productions. His films Howards End and Remains of the Day had received 8 and 9 Oscar nominations respectively. His other films include Mr. & Mrs. Bridge, Ballad of the Sad Café, In Custody, Jefferson In Paris, Feast of July and Surviving Picasso.
Percept Picture Company will be the Executive Producer of the film.
Pre production of Tree of Life will commence in January next year.
