MUMBAI: Filmmaker Anil Sharma’s younger brother, Sanjay Sharma has begun shooting for his second film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron at Red Hills in Pondicherry.
The film has been produced under the banner of Shantketan Films, and stars the producer’s younger sibling Kapil Sharma in the lead, opposite Kulraj Randhawa. Bappi Lahiri has provided the music score.
A film with a similar title, produced by the National Film Development Corporation in 1983, achieved the status of a cult comedy. Directed by Kundan Shah, it featured Naseeruddin Shah, Ravi Baswani, Satish Shah, Om Puri and Pankaj Kapoor.
Says Sanjay Sharma, “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron is a comedy film but bears no resemblance to the older film. It is the story of two young lovers who has their own differences too. The boy always plays pranks, only to land himself in a soup. Vijay Raaz plays a con man in disguise. The elderly roles are played by Anupam Kher, Vijay Raaz and Rajendra Gupta.”
Sharma has earlier produced Military Raaj, but will this time be wielding the directorial baton too. Shantketan Films has earlier made films like Shradhanjali, Bandhan Kachchey Dhagon Ka, Hukumat, Tehelka, Elaan-E-Jung and Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon under its banner.
