MUMBAI: The Board of Directors of SET India Pvt. Ltd. (SET India) have appointed Man Jit Singh as the chairman of the Board.
Singh replaces Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) president Michael Grindon, who relinquishes the chairmanship, but remains on the Board. Grindon has chaired the Board since SPTI and its joint venture partners launched SET India in 1995 with one channel, Sony Entertainment Television.
“Our operations in India have grown significantly over the years and we feel it’s time to strengthen our board of directors with the appointment of qualified, experienced Indian executives such as Man Jit Singh. We’re proud of the accomplishments of our team in India, especially the exemplary role that Kunal Dasgupta continues to play as CEO of SET India. Under Kunal’s leadership, SET India has grown from one channel to four and is a partner in TheOneAlliance, a distribution bouquet that distributes 11 other channels in India. As non-executive chairman, Man Jit’s responsibilities include managing Board affairs and working with current SET India management to refine our strategic growth plan for the company. With his wealth of experience, I’m pleased to offer him my seat as chairman of the Board of SET India, and to serve as a board member under his able guidance,†said Grindon.
“We are pleased to welcome Man Jit to the Board of Directors and look forward to collaborating with him in paving the way for SET India’s future growth. Our channels business has grown dramatically over the years and requires the full attention of a dedicated management group, and Man Jit’s appointment allows us to do just that,†said Dasgupta.
Singh joins the Board of Directors of SET India from Diogenes Capital, LLC, a private equity fund in Los Angeles, California, where he was a Principal.
Dasgupta continues to oversee all business operations for all channels as CEO of SET India, and NP Singh continues as chief operating officer of the company.
