Shiney Ahuja gets 7 years imprisonment in rape case; to move High Court

MUMBAI: A fast-track sessions court convicted Hindi movie actor Shiney Ahuja for raping his maid, and sentenced him to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment.
Ahuja was also fined Rs 3,000 by Sessions Judge P M Chouhan and was taken to jail directly from court yesterday.
The actor was acquitted of charges of criminal intimidation and wrongful confinement.
Convicting the accused, the court said that it had considered circumstantial evidence like the DNA report, torn hymen, blood marks on victim’s clothes, semen on the quilt and curtains, and Ahuja’s hand that bore scratch marks of the victim.
However, Ahuja has decided to move the Bombay High Court against the Fast Track Court’s order that convicted him for raping his domestic help.
The said incident took place on 14 June, 2009 at Ahuja’s residence in Mumbai’s Oshiwara suburb.
