Star Plus launches in Holland on UPC Nederland

MUMBAI: Rupert Murdoch’s Star TV network is steadily increasing its reach in Mainland Europe. The network has now launched its flagship Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) – Star Plus – on Holland’s second largest cable platform UPC Nederland.

With this launch, UPC Nederland strengthens its Asian television entertainment offering to the South Asian diaspora in Holland.

Earlier this year, the Star channels were also launched on other cable and IPTV platforms in Europe such as CAIWAY and Glashart in Holland and You See in Denmark.

Star TV head of UK and European business Yeshpal Sharma said, "Holland is home to the second largest Hindi speaking population after the UK in Europe, and we are delighted to partner with leading cable operator UPC to reach this significant market. This latest deal with UPC is part of Star’s unprecedented growth in mainland Europe, now making Star one of the most widely available networks in Europe."
