Strings unattached at the Dor music launch

Mumbai: Friday evening saw Sahara One Motion Pictures’ new venture Dor, directed by the very versatile Nagesh Kukunoor launch its soothing and lilting music amidst the cast and crew of the film at a south Mumbai club. The film which is set in multihued Rajasthan & Himachal Pradesh had the music CD arriving in an exquisitely embellished traditional palkhi carried by men dressed in traditional Rajput attire complete with their turbans and desi kurtas. The music was then uncovered by Chief Executive Officer (Sahara One Media & Entertainment Ltd) Shantonu Aditya, Nagesh Kukunoor, the Music Directors SalimÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“Suleiman along with lead actress Gul Panag and actor Shreyas Talpade in the midst of other celebrities.

Salim-Suleiman who have composed the music for the film were very ecstatic to see the audience reactions as everyone appreciated the majestic and classic sounds of their songs Yeh Honsla, Kesariya Balam and Imaan Ka Asar. Talented generation next singers Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal, Salim Merchant, Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan and Karsan Sagathiya have rendered their harmonious voice to the score of the film. The movie has five songs in it with eloquent and expressive lyrics by Mir Ali Hussain. The songs take the narration of the film forward and thus form an integral part of the film as a whole.

Shantonu Aditya too couldn’t stop admiring the numbers of the new venture and said, “The music and story of the film are both completely atypical. It feels really proud to be associated with this kind of cinema in Bollywood and I am sure the audience too is going to be full of pride after watching meaningful work like DOR.” Gul Panag, Shreyas Talpade couldn’t stop gushing about the melodious music of the film. Ayesha Takia, who also plays the lead in the movie couldn’t make it to the venue as she was away in Singapore for a shoot.

Sharang Sharma, the Business Head of Sahara One Motion Pictures too basked in the splendor of the successful launch of the film’s mature music. He expressed his joy by saying, “Such numbers are challenging to compose in this new age as young India seems to enjoy only pop, hip-hop, remixes and rock but this will sound different to their ears and I am sure they will like it too.”

Nagesh Kukunoor , who received fantastic reviews and acclaim for his direction of the much celebrated Iqbal seemed quite pleased to receive commendable remarks for the music score of Dor and stated, “Salim- Suleiman and I were looking to break the rules, to make songs that stood out from the clutter and something that was different from the item numbers or the boring love ballads. This is the result of our effort and the reactions here up till now are very encouraging, the expectations now seem to rise even higher, I just hope that things continue to be this colourful and bright even after the film opens to the viewers this September.”

Dor Music launch Dor is a story about love, loss, friendship, hope and ultimately, redemption. It has two principle characters that are from different walks of life but get bound together following certain occurrences. It’s a story about Zeenat (Gul Panag), an independent, self-assured, married young woman, living in a remote Himachal Pradesh village and about Meera (Ayesha Takia) who abodes in rural Rajashtan and hails from a conventional Rajput household. A life changing piece of news which happens to be of common interest, reaches both these strangers which compels their life to reach a dramatic phase. A search begins so that life could be habitual and happy again, a bahuroopiya, played by Shreyas Talpade enters the scenario and perhaps helps unravel the mysteries, leading into a powerful and unexpected ending.The story questions us on how far one can go to save her/his love, fighting all odds, perhaps even destiny.

The film is produced by Sahara One Motion Pictures with Executive Producer Percept Picture Company in association with Sic Productions.Written and Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the film has sound from Vipin Bhati . Sudeep Chatterjee is the Director of Photography and the art direction is taken care of by Muneesh Sappel. The production designer is Devika Bahudanam and costumes have been designed by Komal Sahani & M.P. Karthik.The music has been distributed by UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP and is available at all leading music stores across India. Nagesh’s last flick Iqbal was a masterpiece and this with a new subject explored once again, we are sure will touch hearts once again.
