MUMBAI: Studio 18 has bought Vipul Shah’s Namastey London for distribution in Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad.
The worldwide distribution rights of the film are with Eros International. Says Studio 18 CEO Sandeep Bhargava, “Namastey London is a family entertainer film, with a north Indian flavour, specially because Akshay Kumar’s character in the film belongs to Punjab. We felt the film had the potential to do well in Delhi territory.” Bhargava however did not divulge details of the cost of the acquisitions.
Studio 18 has recently spread its wings to the film distribution sector with films like 1971, which was also the company’s debut production, and Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, which it acquired for a few territories in India and overseas.
Namastey London has been directed by Vipul Shah and stars Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Rishi Kapoor and Upen Patel in lead roles.
