Subhash Ghai launches seven films

MUMBAI: On 24 October, which also marks the 28th anniversary of Mukta Arts, Subhash Ghai has announced seven new films.


 


Of these, three films will be made under Mukta Searchlight banner and four films under Mukta Arts Entertainment.


 


Talking about his new projects Ghai said, “It’s high time that we focus on good stories and scripts than mere proposal making. This time, all the projects and stories with its team and genre of the film have been very carefully chosen and I predict three new stars shinning and making it big in 2007.”


 


Four films under Mukta Entertainment are slated to start by March – April next year and complete by January 2008. These films include an untitled film to be directed by Subhash Ghai on a budget of Rs 300 million (Rs 30 crore). The film will star Salman Khan and two actresses, who are yet to be finalized. A R Rahman will provide the music for the film and it will be shot from mid April to September 2007. Plans are to release the film in Diwali next year.


 


Other three films under Mukta Arts Entertainemnt include one to be directed by Anees Bazmi and written by Pattoo Parekh. The other two films are to be directed by Anurag Basu and Abbas Mastan respectively. The cast and crew of these films are under finalization and will be announced at a later date. 


 


The balance three films, which are to be made under the Mukta Searchlight banner, will start by 21 November 2006 and be completed by April 2007. For this banner too, Ghai will direct a film titled Black n White. The film will be shot in one schedule starting from 21 Nov 2006. It will star Anil Kapoor and will introduce debutant Anurag Sinha.


 


The other films under the banner of Mukta Searchlight include one by Nagesh Kukunoor titled Bombay 2 Bangkok and the other by his chief assistant Shashi Sudigala titled Cycle Kick, which will go on floors on 1 November.


 


Incidentally, Kukunoor’s Iqbal was also produced under the banner of Mukta Searchlight Films.
