MUMBAI: After a successful event last year, the annual contemporary issues documentary film festival will be held once again at the Rama Watamull Auditorium in the K C College premises in Mumbai.
With documentaries covering a wide range of issues right from the plight of the farmers in Vidharbha to the need for electricity conservation in Mumbai; Take 2 this year promises to be bigger and better than last year’s event.
The films at Take 2 are made by final year mass media students from the K C College and reflect their filmmaking sensibilities coupled with the urge to uncover problems that plague our society. Manjula Srinivas, the coordinator of the course articulates, “I have been observing the third year students over the last eight weeks; I have seen them put their heart and soul in making the best possible film with the issues they have chosen.”
She further added that viewing Take 2 was open to all, and all that one needs to come with is an open mind.
When Businessofcinema.com contacted director Chitra Palekar, she said, “I think it is wonderful to see one’s creation on screen. It not only gives confidence, it enables the student to go forward. I do hope that these students go on to make an important contribution to the future of Indian films. I will be watching them with an open mind.”
Guests at Take 2 include names like Chitra Palekar (director of Maati Maay), Nandini Sardesai (Film Censor board committee member), Jimmy Mistry (Cinematographer), Pranav Ashar (Short film maker), Anahita Oberoi (Theatre artiste), Bomi Kapadia (Model), Aditya Seth (IDPA).
