MUMBAI: Music and home video major T-Series is upbeat about venturing into new avenues. With a number of music releases coming up in the weeks ahead, the music company is all set to introduce a web store on its website www.tseries.com.
In an exclusive chat with Businessofcinema.com, T-Series vice president marketing and promotions Vinod Bhanushali says, “The web store will have digital music downloading options along with different types of ringtones. Users will have to pay a particular price for the tracks and they can own the product.â€
Talking about the augment in digital music, he adds, “A lot of effort and money goes into the process of making CDs. We need production, distribution and retail outlets in place for the same. But for web stores, we just need a strong technological back end, which we are in the process of building.â€
According to information available with Businessofcinema.com, users need not buy the entire film album, but will have the option to buy individual songs as per their choice. Users can buy re-charge cards of different denominations a la mobile pre-paid cards, which will be made available at stores and use them to buy songs from the T-Series website.
However, Bhanushali informs that this will not affect the production of music CDs. “It’s just an option for people who want instant music on their computer,†he says.
At present the T-Series website offers downloads of wallpapers, screensavers and ringtones. Music of select songs can also be heard via Apple’s iTunes.
T-Series’ home production Darling’s music will be launched next week. “We intend to make 12 to 13 movies every year. So all the music will be available on our site along with their ringtone formats.â€
