Turkish Airlines, THY, is starting a three times-a-week flight on the Mumbai-Istanbul route on May 6 in an attempt to woo not only Indian tourists but also Bollywood film crews. The airline is already in talks with producers and celebrities to come visit Turkey in hope to woo and excite Indian filmmakers to consider filming in Turkey. Indian tourists are showing a growing interest in visiting Turkey.
The Turkish Embassy issued more than 14,000 visas last year, from the 8,000 visas issued the previous year. Apart from general visitors, Turkey is also promoting itself as a meeting, incentives, conferences and exhibition destination.
