Mumbai: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said in a statement today:
It has come to the notice of this Ministry that an advertisement of "Lux-Cosy Undergarment", showing semi clad male and female model and a dog, is being telecast on several TV Channels and the content of the said advertisement is found indecent, vulgar and suggestive and thus violating Rule 7 (8) of the Advertising Code prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and rules framed there under.
Now therefore, the Central Government, in exercise of powers, amongst others, under Sub-Section (3) of Section 20 of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 hereby prohibits the transmission or retransmission of the advertisements of "Lux-Cosy Undergarment" on all broadcasting platforms with immediate effect and also advises all channels to be more careful in future in selection of content of advertisements. The Channels are also directed to strictly adhere to the Advertisement Code prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and Rules framed there under in order not to invite further action under the said Act and Rules.
