MUMBAI: UTV Motion Pictures is planning to produce a movie on Indian film industry’s legendary playback singer Kishore Kumar. The film will be directed by Shoojit Sircar.
The film is being scripted by Renzil D’Silva. The movie is being made with the consent of Kishore Kumar’s family comprising his wife Leena Chandavarkar and sons Amit Kumar and Sumit Kumar.
Kishore Kumar’s family made the announcement of the film today in Mumbai to commemorate the 79th birth anniversary of the singer.
Amit Kumar said, "It was Shoojit Sircar who approached us and told us that he was a great admirer of our father and that he wanted to make an biopic on him. The producer and director have aggreed to take our consent on every scene that will be shot for the film. The film will encompass his entire life from his birth to his entry into Bombay and the struggle he faced when his elder brother Ashok Kumar forced him to act in films. The film will showcase his professional life as an actor, music director and singer as well as his personal life – his four marriages… everything negative and positive."
Sumit Kumar added, “It is not an easy subject to make and it is entirely the director’s prerogative on who he wants to cast in the movie. The film will encapsulate his life and struggle."
At the time of filing this report, UTV Motion Pictures officials declined to make any comments on the project.
Apart from the director, the rest of the cast and crew of the film has not yet been decided.
