Via Darjeeling release postponed to 27 June

MUMBAI: The release of Via Darjeeling has been postponed from 20 June to 27 June. The film has been co-produced by National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) and Moxie Entertainment.

Via Darjeeling has been directed by Arindam Nandy. The film will be released across all across major and mini metros.

Via Darjeeling is about a recently married couple on their honeymoon. On the day of their return, one of them disappears. The mystery returns to Calcutta one night… via Darjeeling. Faces are unmasked and new ones emerge.

The movie stars Kay Kay Menon, Sonali Kulkarni, Vinay Pathak and Parvin Dabas in the main lead along with Simone Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Proshanth Narayana and Sandhya Mridul.

Via Darjeeling is a first major film co-produced by NFDC after a sabbatical. NFDC has so far produced and financed more than 300 films in 15 Indian languages and has more than 15 international co-productions to its credit. Its catalogue includes films like Gandhi, Salaam Bombay, Massey Sahib, The Making of Mahatma, and Train to Pakistan. NFDC has worked with some of most acclaimed filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, Shyam Benegal, Mrinal Sen, Mira Nair, Aparna Sen, Ketan Mehta and Girish Kasaravalli.

NFDC managing director Nina Lath Gupta says, “Via Darjeeling has a very strong and interesting storyline. The concept of the film was very intriguing and stars several talented actors. Keeping in mind the repertoire of our previous films we thought Via Darjeeling had all the ingredients to be part of NFDC. I hope the film does well and encourages more young and talented filmmakers to make good and meaningful cinema.”

Another film that NFDC is producing is called Bioscope. Its upcoming co-productions include Lucky Red Seeds, Bubble Gum and The White Elephant.
