Mumbai: Twelve years back producer Vinay Kumar Sinha had released his first film Andaz Apna Apna starring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon. The film was directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi.
With a gross turnover of Rs 24 million (Rs 2.40 crore) in 1994, the film was dubbed by the trade as a flop. Vinay doesn’t quite agree, “In 1994, I was new to the business and had sold off my territories below the deserved ratio. I’m sure all my distributors have recovered their investments and even made profits. After all, I’m still getting returns on my investment. For example, I have received Rs. 8 million (Rs. 80 lakhs) for this film for the Satellite territory.”
Now the producer plans to make a sequel” as comedies are doing well at the box-office”. Will he repeat the same team? “I know it will be difficult to fit in the same combination of pairs but I’m trying my best. I have already spoken about it to Rajkumar Santoshi, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan as they are the best of actors and technicians. It will be launched next year in January with one shooting schedule.”
