MUMBAI: Vipul Shah’s Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Action Replay has gone on floors today (12 March) at ND Studios in Karjat. Action Replay is based on a Gujarati play.
Akshay and Aishwarya will be paired opposite each other after five years. They were last seen together in Khakee.
Shah, who has just completed the shooting for London Dreams, has already moved on to start work with his favourite actor – Akshay Kumar. Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, he says, “I have been associated with the play for the last 15 years and I have always wanted to make this Gujarati play into a film. When the casting fell into place, everything else fell into place.”
Although there was a controversy regarding the title of the film, Shah laughed it away. He said, “I was shooting for London Dreams and a reporter called me whilst I was taking a shot and I told him that I will talk to him later. The next thing I knew the papers were saying that the title is not registered with me. The truth is that the title Action Replay has been with me since 1994 and the matter ends there.”
Akshay will be shooting with Shah till mid April. After that the actor will fly to Singapore to join the unit of Ratan Jain’s De Dhana Dhan. As for Aishwarya, it’s back to the studios of Karjat where she shot for months at an end for Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Jodhaa Akbar.
