MUMBAI: Mandira Bedi, currently seen in Anil Kapoor’s ‘24’ on Colors, adds another feather in her cap. The lady famous for her noodle strap has launched her very own ‘nine yard’ collection with business partner Zahabia Abid.
While Mandira has already successfully showcased her designs at various exhibitions in Mumbai, Bengalaru and Singapore, she has now formally launched her own store.
On the launch Mandira Bedi said, “I am both excited and very nervous. While some people loved my saris and thought I should open a store, others felt it was too soon, but here I am with my collection.”
Of what we saw, we can say is that her drapes are not about bling or embellishments, instead they are a beautiful play on colors and fabrics. In terms of design, Mandira has created triangle saris, one third saris and more that can be worn for Diwali or even occasion wear.
She’s also created some readymade blouses in noodle strap and halter styles in various shades of gold that can be easily paired with any of the saris.
Director Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor, Aashish Chaudhary along with his wife Shamita, Arshad Warsi with wife Maria Goretti, Ashutosh Gowariker‘s wife Sunita Gowarikar, model Shonali Nagrani with husband Shiraz Bhattacharya, television actor Karan Wahi, model Pia Trivedi, fashion designer Masaba Gupta, Neelam Kothari with her husband Samir Soni, Sophie Choudry, Suchitra Pillay, Arya Babbar, Mini Mathur, Madhoo, Reshma Merchant, wife of music director Sulaiman Merchant and Arbaaz Khan were present at the launch to wish Mandira Bedi all the best for this new venture.
