MUMBAI: Finally, the speculations are all over as Ranveer Singh and the current queen of the Box Office, Deepika Padukone came together to promote their upcoming film ‘Ram Leela’ at Radio City Studios in Mumbai on November 4, 2013.
‘Ram Leela’ is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This is his film after a long gap of three years, his last being ‘Guzaarish’ in 2010. The film is said to be an adaptation of Shakespeare’s epic love story Romeo and Juliet, set in violent times.
However Deepika Padukone was not Sanjay’s first choice. He wanted Kareena Kapoor as Leela, but then both the actor and director had some issues over the monies that Kareena quoted so they parted ways and Sanjay approached Priyanka Chopra. Later, she too was dropped and finally Sanjay found Leela in Deepika. However Priyanka Chopra has done an item number in the film.
The first look of the film has Deepika sporting a 30 kg ghaghra. Richa Chadda who was last seen in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ is also signed on to play a significant role, whereas Barkha Bisht plays a supporting role opposite Abhimanyu Shekhar Singh. This is the first time that Sanjay is working with both Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
‘Ram Leela’ is ready for release and shall hit the silver screen on 15 November 2013.
