Bollywood’s Dabangg Salman Khan once again caught everyone’s major attention with his controversial tweets over the death sentence of 1993 Mumbai blasts accused Yakub Memon. It all started when Salman Khan tweeted calling Yakub Memon an innocent and that Yakub’s brother, Tiger Memon, the main accused in the case, should be hanged instead. Tiger Memon, the main accuse of 1993 serial Mumbai blasts, has been absconding since the tragic event took place.
After the conviction, which came recently, Salman Khan took to his Twitter account and lashed out at Tiger Memon in series of tweets. Soon after his tweets, the BJP and Shiv Sena held protests outside Salman Khan’s home in Mumbai. Not only that but Salman Khan’s father, Salim Khan called his son’s remarks ignorant.
Later, the star apologized for his tweets and deleted them from the micro blogging site. While doing so, Salman Khan went on Twitter, condemning those who called his tweets as ‘anti-religious’. The star also made it clear that he means no harm by saying that he respects all faiths and religions and always will.

The whole controversy began when Salman Khan tweeted on Sunday in support of 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon tweeting that he condemns the hanging of Yakub Memon and also demanded that Tiger Memon should be hanged instead. “Don’t hang brother, hang that lomdi who ran away,” the actor tweeted. Salman went further on with series of tweets saying, “Get tiger hang him. Parade him not his brother. “Phasisi k phande pe chardne walla hai . Koi statement. Koi address. Kuch toh bolo k tum teh. Wah bhai ho toh aisa. Matlab. Ya khoob menan.”
On his tweets, Salman Khan’s father, Salim Khan said that Salman should not say anything on these kinds of serious topics without any knowledge. He should not have made such a comment. The noted screenwriter went further on calling Salman Khan ignorant of the issue and that people shouldn’t take him seriously. After Salman Khan’s tweets caused a massive controversy, the star took to his Twitter account and apologized for his earlier tweets on the matter by tweeting, “I had tweeted that Tiger Memon should hang for his crimes and I stand by it. What i also said is that Yakub Memon should not hang for him. I have not said or implied that Yakub Memon is innocent. I have complete faith in the judicial system of our country. Many lives were lost in the Mumbai blasts. And I have repeatedly said the loss of one innocent life is equal to the loss of all humanity.”
Salman’s father, Salim Khan asked the star to delete his controversial tweets from the site and so Salman did. “My dad called & said I should retract my tweets as they have the potential to create misunderstanding. I here by retract them. I would like to unconditionally apologise for any misunderstanding I may have created unintentionally. I also strongly condemn those who are claiming my tweets are anti religious. I have always said I respect all faiths and I always will,” Salman Khan said in series of tweets.
