After Winning Big At Cannes, Masaan To Release On July 24 In India

Richa-dcacsBollywood film Masaan (Fly Away Solo) that received five-minute standing ovation at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival and won two awards, will hit the Indian theatres on June 24, 2015. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the drama film will take us through the lives of four people, a young orphan, a low-caste teenage boy who falls in love with a girl belonging from an upper class and girl’s father, who is caught in s** scandal with a woman, all living in a small town in India.

The film that stars Richa ChaddaVicky KaushalVineet Kumar,Shweta Tripathi and Sanjai Mishra won two prestigious awards at Cannes this year; Promising Future Prize and the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci) Award. This was a dream come true moment for the team of Masaan. The filmmaker of Masaan,Neeraj Ghaywan, who made his debut with this film, says that he never dreamt of this day. “I wish I could say, ‘This is a dream come true’. I never dreamt of this day. This is magical. My first film, produced by the people who inspire me, is a great feeling and now winning these awards, is a feeling one cannot articulate. I am happier for India and my team than myself,” Neeraj said in a statement.

Masaan, which is jointly produced by Manish Mundra, Macassar Productions, Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films and Sikhya Entertainment, was screened at Cannes Film Festival 2015 under Un Certain Regard category.
