Bollywood’s daredevil who will be seen portraying the iconic character of Gabbar in his next film has requested the audience and media to stop confusing his film with the sequel to Sholay. According to Akshay Kumar the film Gabbar Is Back has merely adapted the role of Gabbar with a twist and has nothing to do with the original film Sholay.

During the recent trailer launch of his film, which was a grand event, Akshay Kumar made certain things clear for everyone. According to Akshay Kumar, Gabbar who was an iconic character, inspired from the film Sholay saw the character as a villain who killed good people. But the new age Gabbar will be seen killing the bad guys that is the people who are corrupt. Akshay will be a badass vigilante who fights against the corruption that prevails in our nation.
Akshay stated, “This Gabbar is different. That Gabbar (in Sholay) was the villain and this Gabbar (in Gabbar Is Back) is the hero. This film has nothing to do with that film; this film is not ‘Sholay 2’. Both the characters are different.”

Gabbar is an official remake of 2002 Tamil film Ramanaa. Directed by Krish, the film also features Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles. Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film will hit theatres on May 1, 2015.
