MUMBAI: ‘Tis the season to be sporty, in Bollywood. Shah Rukh Khan said so a couple of days ago, with the university cricket championship he supports (SEE PHOTOS). Akshay Kumar said so, with his support of the ‘Golf Premier League’.

Ladies and ladies, feast your eyes on two of the most distinguished and handsome men around in Bollywood. Akshay Kumar and the dapper Vinod Khanna joined forces, to promote the recently launched ‘Golf Premier League’ at JW Marriott in Mumbai. Golf is always portrayed as an elitist sport, so who better to promote it than two of the most elite men in B’town!

Akshay was dressed in a cheeky tee, which read ‘I’m Jealous Of Me Too’, and was all smiles as he promoted the ‘Golf Premier League’. Vinod Khanna still looked unbelievably handsome and fit in his navy blue suit and dark glasses. Pity his handsome, young; sophisticated son Rahul Khanna didn’t join him at this event though!

The ‘Golf Premiere League’ is the brain child devised by ex-European Tour golfer Shiv Kapur. The aim of the ‘Golf Premier League’, as Shiv propounded at the event, was to recreate the magic of the IPL in the sport of golf. Shiv even candidly revealed to the media that the development of his idea was heavily influenced by the IPL.

We hope that the ‘Golf Premier League’ does to the sport of golf, what the IPL (Indian Premier League) did for the format of T20 cricket. That would be an incredible success story indeed, and would only add to the viewership of a sport like golf. Lord knows we could use a break from watching Dhoni and his boys bite into the bitter pie of defeat, and instead watch a sport as relaxing and enjoyable as golf. Tiger Woods would be pleased!
