It doesn’t matter if you are a Bollywood fanatic or not, you must have seen the film Sholay once or more than once in your life. And guess what? The 1975 cult film Sholay, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra will make its debut in Pakistan. The film will hit the big screens in Pakistan on March 20, four decades after its release.
Nadeem Mandviwalla is a leading exhibitor and distributor, and has decided to bring Sholay to Pakistan. Nadeem, who owns Mandiwalla Entertainment, revealed in a conversation with a leading daily, “Sholay has never been screened in Pakistani cinemas and people here watched only the pirated version.” Still Nadeem is hopefull and quite sure that people will come and watch the film on the big screen nonetheless. Nadeemwent further on and revealed that he himself have watched the film for about 15 to 20 times.
The classic films which were re-released in Pakistan, failed to generate good business at the Pakistani box office, however, hopes are quite high with Sholay.
The mega blockbuster film Sholay, directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by G P Sippy also stars Sanjeev Kumar, Amjad Khan, Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan in pivotal roles. The film will be releasing in 2D and 3D in Pakistan on March 20, 2015.
