The choreographer of some all-time hits like Oo Antava, Chikni Chameli and Malhari, Ganesh Acharya has been accused of sexual harassment, stalking, causing hurt, and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, criminal intimidation and voyeurism by a co-dancer in 2020.

Two years after the incident first surfaced in the media, the Mumbai Police Department has officially filed a charge sheet against choreographer Ganesh Acharya.

AS per TOI, The co-dancer was sexually harassed after she declined his approach. She further claimed that Acharya had hampered her work and threatened to harm her professional career if she did not participate in sexual encounters with him. Her membership in the Indian Cine and TV Choreographers Association got cancelled shortly after the incident after he was appointed general secretary.

The latter had previously disputed the complaints, calling them “false accusations.” His lawyer, Ravi Suryavanshi, stated that they had yet to obtain a copy of the charge sheet. “I don’t have the charge sheet, so I can’t say anything,” he replied, “but all of the sections in the FIR were bailable.” Ganesh Acharya’s legal team filed a defamation suit after being accused of sexual harassment.
