Director Ashutosh Gowariker has a fascination with making historical movies. Remember ‘Lagaan’, ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and ‘Mohenjo Daro’? Reportedly, Gowariker is ready to make his comeback. And in his comeback project he is planning on casting Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Kapoor.
His upcoming movie revolves around a real-life historic battle. The battle is said to be fought between the 16th and 18th centuries. And has repeated itself in history three-times over. Reportedly, Ashutosh has approached Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Kapoor for pivotal roles in the historic saga.

After the success of ‘Jodhaa Akbar,’ the director has had a bad spell at the box office. His last historical drama ‘Mohenjo Daro’ failed to gather acclaims and box office returns. Before that, he even dabbled in filming a pre-independence drama ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se’. The film starred Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Sikander Kher. Despite being sports related the movie did not do well at the box office. His foray into the genre of romance also was a dud. ‘What’s Your Raashee?’ featured Priyanka Chopra in 12 different avatars opposite Harman Baweja. However, even 12 Priyanka’s were not enough to make the audience watch the romcom.
The director’s last few releases had failed at the box office. Though it would be foolish to think Ashutosh Gowariker has given them his all! He is not one of the three Indian directors to make Indian movies to get nominated for international awards for nothing! Who knows if his next ends up being a masterpiece?
Currently, the script of the movie is being finalized and worked on. Ashutosh Gowariker is gearing up for pre-production formalities. If all works out well, this will be the first that Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Kapoor will be directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.
