In the film, Rani aced the role of a strong headed journalist. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film revolved around a real life based murder case of Jessica Lal. The film also features Vidya Balan. The same year, Rani was awarded with a Filmfare award for Best Actress in Supporting Role.
