Karan Johar believes in keeping his fairytale stories little closer to the reality by depicting how weird families can get in his films. Take Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, 2 States, Student Of The Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Wake Up Sid for example. Different films, different families but the quotient of weirdness was always there.
