Bollywood’s Best Dance Numbers of 2013!

Best Dance 08

[tps_footer]Last year, Bollywood was at its best, in every aspect. While the films themselves were excellent for the most part, even music was a big plus in 2013. Dance numbers abounded, with funky beats and up-tempo sounds dominating the charts. Bollywood’s music directors went all out, trying to appease dance manic audiences, and give them foot-tapping numbers to look forward to, and shake their things to, all year round…

VIDEO OF BOLLYWOOD’S BEST DANCE NUMBERS:

Here is a roundup of the top dance numbers last year:

1234, Get on the dance floor: This rocking party dance number from Chennai Express saw Shah Rukh Khan dance and romance a beautiful southern belle- Priyamani. SRK matched her step for step, and his high energy was infectious, and breathed life into the catchy part Hindi- part Tamil lyrics.

Lungi Dance (Thalaiva): Another rocking one from Chennai Express, Lungi Dance became an instant party favourite. The song had a signature Yo Yo Honey Singh touch, all the while paying tribute to the legendary Southern superstar Rajinikanth. Deepika and SRK shaking their bon bons made for a pretty visual. All that was missing from this superb dance number was a glimpse of Thalaiva the man himself. Sigh.

Dilliwali Girlfriend: With Ranbir Kapoor’s smooth moves, Deepika Padukone’s sheer grace, and catchy as hell lyrics, it is no surprise that this song became an instant favourite on the wedding scene. A typical sangeet party song, Dilliwali Girlfriend blazed the scene since Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani released.

Ghagra: Another Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani classic, Ghagra saw the stellar Madhuri Dixit come out of hiding, to do a scintillating one for us. Add to that was Ranbir Kapoor matching her killer moves, with his own inimitable style, and Ghagra was another party favourite this year.

Party All NightAkshay Kumar and Yo Yo Honey Singh collaborated once again for this dance number from the latter’s film, Boss. Though the film was a dud, this number stood out for its sheer energy and disco vibe. With an earworm-style refrain playing on loop, it was hard to escape this number at any dance party.

Dhating NaachShahid Kapoor, another hyper-energetic Bollywood creature, gave us a fabulous dance number this year, in Phata Poster Nikla Hero’s Dhating Naach. The fact that the gorgeous Nargis Fakhri accompanied him in the song was just icing on the cake. The signature step of the song was quite a rage at dance parties across the countries, but not everyone could pull it off a la Shahid!

Party on my mind: Race 2 brought together the forces of Deepika PadukoneJacqueline Fernandez, Saif Ali Khan and John Abraham, and the foursome had a rocking party in the film, with this song. Another staple party favourite, it got overshadowed by the heaps of other dance numbers this year, but we dug it out to bring it to your notice.

Tooh: Imran and Kareena rocked this one, from their film Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. Tooh became a cult classic of sorts, with the zany Punjabi lyrics catching on like wildfire. ‘Shake That Tooh’ became a catchphrase in many ways, with the song being all the rage still in discos, clubs and at weddings especially.

Gandi Baat: A Shahid Kapoor number yet again, Gandi Baat from R..Rajkumar with the signature Prabhu Deva magic will be one for the weeks to come. Another set of catchy lyrics, albeit a bit rustic and tapori-esque, Gandi Baat was nothing but a fun dance hit.

Tamanche Pe Disco: The wackiest, craziest dance number this year was Tamanche pe Disco from Bullett Raja. Non-dancer Saif Ali Khan was transformed into a party star with his wild moves, dancing the disco with a gun! Sonakshi Sinha, his co-star, was the perfect match for him in this song.

So these are the best of Bollywood’s dance numbers of 2013.[/tps_footer]
