MUMBAI: As the rest of the city slept in on an unusually cold Sunday morning, Bollywood’s fitness freaks chose to wake up early, don their workout gear and go for a run at the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2013. The 10th edition of this prestigious marathon saw a host of Bollywood celebrities, corporate bigwigs and International athletes and the aam junta run for a cause.

Our B’town celebrities were joined by an overwhelming 40,000 Mumbaikars who participated in one of the richest marathons in the world. We spotted a collection of celestial Bollywood stars, espousing various social causes, including female foeticide, saving the nation’s tigers and generally promoting the cause of good health

Handsome hunk John Abraham turned up for the event as early as daybreak, clad in a stylish blue tracksuit. Vivek Oberoi chose to be uniformed in the official marathon jersey, and looked fit as a fiddle as he interacted with fans and media. Juhi Chawla was seen in a tee from her upcoming film ‘Main Krishna Hoon’, and was accompanied by several children. Television actress Sakshi Tanwar kept herself hydrated with a bottle of water throughout the run, while Gulshan Grover, Tina Ambani and Sharman Joshi kept her company.

Bollywood’s serious social-cause supporters Dia Mirza and Tara Sharma too turned up in their sporty best, as did Ranveer Singh. Tina Ambani’s industrialist husband Anil Ambani, who is a serious runner, was seen sporting the number 9999 at the marathon. Singer Shaan, politician Chhagan Bhujbal, and corporate magnate Anand Mahindra were also spotted at the event.

Mayor Sunil Prabhu, who was present at the marathon, said that this large gathering sends out an unambiguous message to the country that the citizens of Mumbai citizens are in love with the city, and that they are dedicated to some very good causes.
