I condemn Muting Lesbian In Dum Laga Ke Haisha: Ashoke Pandit

Ayushmann-Khurrana-Duma-Laga-ke-HaishaCensor Board created a lot of stir on the internet very recently after issuing a list of banned cuss words for movies. And now Censor Board has created another stir and is in the middle of another controversy. According to recent reports, the Censor Board asked the makers of Ayushmanna Khurranna‘s Dum Laga Ke Haisha to mute the word ‘Lesbian’ from their film.

But the news was not well received by the people, specially, Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) member and filmmaker Ashoke Pandit. The filmmaker took to his official Twitter account to express his views. “Came to know through news papers & If it’s true then muting “Lesbian” in a film is shameful.I condemn it.#freedomofexpression ,” Ashoke Pandit tweeted.

A lot of other media people are reacting on the news as well. In the film, the female lead character Sandhya, played by the actress Bhumi Pednekar, is consoled by a lawyer at court with the word. And now, the Censor Board have asked the makers to mute the word ‘Lesbian’ from the film. Not only that, the Censor Board have also asked the makers to replace few words in the film.
