Our film industry is full of brave hearts who claim themselves to be open-minded and liberal but when it comes to expression most of them prefer to stay mute. The audience of Bollywood cinema is huge and hence when an actor or actress comes out in the open to protest against a social injustice it gets supported.
Abhay Deol has proved himself to be one of the bravest stars from our Industry. Abhay has slammed the Mumbai police for raids at a hotel in Madh Island, Mumbai. The Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara star took to his Facebook page to express his anger at the police, calling the arrests an act of “indecency.” He posted a status criticizing the Mumbai Police on their arrest of young couples having consensual se*. He spoke openly about the devils of our Indian society and accepted, “I crave se*. Is that something to be ashamed of?” he was furious on the way young kids were physically and morally abused by the police in the name of law.
He cited that the example of Kama Sutra which is the ultimate book of sex and is composed in our country. He was shocked by the forceful arrests in Aksa beach area committed on the name of “Moral policing”. He very frankly admitted that the guilty party here was the Mumbai police who should be charged under public indecency.
Police rounded up some couples from hotel rooms in Madh Island. The raids have evoked criticism from many sections, which have called the incident a case of ‘moral policing’.
