MUMBAI: Sunday, when the entire cast and crew of Bollywood’s most awaited film of the year – Dabangg 2 – went to Kanpur, all hell broke loose.
Outside the Bajariya police station where the shooting was taking place, a huge number of Salman Khan fans gathered to get a glimpse of the superstar.
But soon things turned ugly in the crowd. According to reports, some fans began resorting to violence.
The police took to lathi charge – and then according to an eyewitness the situation aggravated to a whole new level when policemen beat a kid. After this incident crowd went berserk.
Local dailies had reported that Salman would travel to Lucknow and Kanpur in the second week of September. But when the Bollywood star didn’t reach the venue till late hours of the Sunday evening, people got enraged and went out of control. They pelted stones and bricks all over the police station. Locals of the city passing Bajariya police station had to face traffic snarls for several hours.
Fortunately later “the situation came under control”, as per a senior police official.
Interestingly, Salman had done his best to avoid shooting in Kanpur for the film, because of similar incidents in the past. But obviously the recreation of Kanpur in Kamalistan studios of Mumbai wasn’t working out completely.
